Privacy Policy

i2i Brokers are proudly a New Zealand-owned business with a national reach. We specialize in offering expert insurance advice and solutions to both individuals and businesses across the country.

In this Privacy Policy, when we say ‘WE’, ‘US’, or ‘OUR’, we’re talking about i2i and when we say ‘YOU’ or ‘YOUR’, we mean the awesome individuals who trust us with their personal information.

We're all about keeping your personal info safe and secure. We’re committed to respecting your privacy, and that’s why we follow New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 to handle your data with care. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, use, and share your personal information—so you know exactly what’s going on.

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Under the Privacy Act, ‘personal information’ means any info that can identify you as an individual. Here’s the kind of info we might collect:

  • Insurance-related info: We’ll need details like your contact info, date of birth, employment, health history, criminal background, previous insurance, and any past claims you’ve made to help us offer the best coverage for you.
  • Billing info: This is any financial or invoicing details we need to keep things running smoothly.
  • Recruitment info: If you’re applying for a job with us through our careers page, we’ll collect the details necessary for that process.
  • Any other info you share: Basically, any other personal info you provide us during our relationship.

If you ever choose not to share the necessary info, it might mean we (or our third-party providers) can’t give you the services you need. We’re here to help, so the more info you share, the better we can assist you!

How we collect Personal Information

We gather your personal info in a few different ways, so we can stay on top of things and give you the best service possible:

  • Directly from you: This could be through our website (yep, those online forms), over the phone or by email.
  • Indirectly from third parties: Sometimes, we may need to get info from other places—like your employer, referees, insurers, or even government departments—especially if it's tricky to get it directly from you. But don’t worry, we only contact these third parties when it’s absolutely necessary for the services you’ve asked for.

Why We Collect, Store, Use, and Share Your Personal Information

We’ve got a few key reasons for collecting and using your personal info. Here’s the list:

  • To assess and manage your insurance applications and policies: We need to know the basics to get your insurance sorted and make sure everything's up to date.
  • To handle payments: For processing your insurance payments, billing, and invoices.
  • To communicate with you: We’ll keep you in the loop about our products and services—especially anything we think you’ll find helpful.
  • For market or customer research: We want to improve, and your feedback helps us get better.
  • To administer claims: If you need to make a claim, we’ll use your info to handle the process smoothly.
  • To send you info about other services we think are relevant: We might let you know about products or services you could find useful.
  • For legal and regulatory reasons: Sometimes we need to report info for compliance or other official purposes.
  • For audits: We’re all about being transparent, so we’ll occasionally go through internal or external audits.
  • For training: We might use some of your info in training scenarios to help our team get even better at serving you.
  • For recruitment: If you apply for a job with us, we’ll use your details to assess your suitability.
  • Anything else: If there’s anything else we need your info for, we’ll let you know when we collect it.

Basically, we collect, store, and use your personal info to make sure we can help you with all things insurance—plus a few extras to make sure we’re running smoothly.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We’re serious about keeping your info private, so we’ll only share it when we really need to (and when it’s totally okay to do so). We might disclose your personal info in the following situations:

  • Insurance-related stuff: We might share info with insurers, reinsurers, other insurance intermediaries, insurance bureaus, and industry bodies to help manage your insurance.
  • Assessing claims: If we need to investigate a claim, we might share info with the assessors appointed by your insurer.
  • Policy buddies: If someone else is listed on your policy—like a co-insured or joint insured—we might share your info with them.
  • Service providers: If your insurance requires repairs or other services, we may need to share your info with the relevant service providers.
  • Business partners: We work with third parties like payment processors, IT companies, lawyers, accountants, and financial institutions to help us run our business and provide services. We may share info with them when necessary.
  • Other legal stuff: If we have to, we may disclose your personal info to courts, law enforcement, regulators, or other government agencies to comply with the law.

We’ll also share aggregated, de-personalized data (stuff that doesn’t identify you) if needed, but nothing that compromises your privacy!

Transfer of Personal Information Overseas

Occasionally, we may need to share your personal information with third-party service providers, or insurers who are located overseas. They may store or process your info on our behalf or for one of the reasons mentioned above.

If your info has to go overseas, we’ll make sure it’s protected. We follow the Privacy Act and ensure that the overseas recipients are subject to privacy laws that offer similar protection to the ones here in New Zealand. If, for some reason, your data needs to go somewhere with less strict privacy laws, we’ll ask for your permission before we send it off.

Providing Personal Information of Others

If you're sharing someone else’s personal information with us, make sure you’ve got the green light from them first! We’re all about privacy, so before you send us details about another person or client, here's what you need to do:

  • Let them know: Tell the person whose info you’re sharing that we’ll handle their details in line with our Privacy Policy.
  • Share the Policy: Give them a copy of (or a link to) this Privacy Policy so they know what’s up.
  • Get their thumbs-up: Confirm they’ve given you the go-ahead to pass their info on to us.

When We Share Personal Information

If we happen to give you access to someone else’s personal info, it’s only for the specific purpose we agreed on, and it’s always in line with privacy laws (including the Privacy Act).

Also, anyone involved—whether they’re an agent, adviser, employee, or contractor—has to follow these same rules.

Privacy is key, no matter who’s handling the info!

Accuracy, Access, and Correction of Your Personal Information

We do our best to make sure the personal info we hold is accurate, complete, and up-to-date when we collect, use, or share it. But hey, we also rely on you to let us know if anything changes!

If you spot any changes to your personal details, or if you think what we have on file is outdated, incomplete, or just plain wrong, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can contact your broker or use the details below to get in touch with us.

You’re also welcome to request access to your personal info anytime. Want to update it or even have it erased (in certain cases)? Just let us know, and we’ll sort it out! If we can’t grant access or make changes, we’ll explain why. There may be a fee for this, depending on the situation.

Security of Personal Information

We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from misuse, loss, unauthorized access, and changes.

That being said, no data protection measure is 100% foolproof, so while we do our best, we can’t guarantee total security.

Don't forget you've got a part to play here too! Keep your personal info safe and if you ever think there’s been a security breach, let us know ASAP. If anything happens that legally requires us to notify you about a breach, we’ll make sure you’re informed.
